2nd URJA Convention of RWAs
3rd URJA Convention of RWAs

The 1st URJA Convention of RWAs:

Date: November 05th, 2005
Venue: Lok Kala Manch Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

The Convention called by URJA [United Residents Joint Action] the all-Delhi RWA collective stepped up the agitation against the Delhi Government for its failure to address the issues of the people suffering due to high power bills for the last six months or more;

In addition, the Convention voted for measures to be taken to challenge the government on the issue of the DVB privatization which has resulted in a chaotic situation in the power sector in the capital, with abnormal tariff increases on the one hand and poor service and deficiency of power availability on the other. Compunding the issue is the fact that almost half of Delhi’s residents have been subjected to a forced meter change while the other half remains in the electro-mechanical regime creating a severe imbalance between the ones whose meters have been changed and the ones whose meters have not been changed.

URJA members from all over Delhi convened to resolve steps to be taken in regard of these meters; and the logical extension of the Satya-Agraha campaign designed to secure the truth about DVB privatization which is commonly thought to be fraught will serious corrupt practices resulting in huge profits to chosen companies apart from suspicions of pay offs to several political and administrative functionaries. The convention determined what the people of Delhi want as regards the power situation.
